This cake is my “old standby”. It is my husband’s favorite after dinner chocolate treat!
This bundt cake is great by itself, topped with icing, or served warm with ice cream. We like it just naked! This cake freezes very well so I typically cut it into quarters, wrap it in foil, (aluminum foil blocks freezer burn) then pop it in a ziplock bag and label it. (Defrosts quickly for unexpected guests!)
To make this Cake recipe, You will need the following ingredients:
1 box devils food cake (18.25 oz)
1 box instant chocolate pudding (3.9 oz)
1 cup veg oil
1 cup water
semi-sweet chocolate chips (about 1 cup)
You will also need a bundt pan and non-stick spray.
(I love Crisco with flour or Baker’s Joy)
Pour cake mix into bowl
Pour instant pudding mix in bowl
Add 4 eggs
Add the water
Add the oil
mix until thoroughly combined
Add about a cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
(I use toll house.)
Mix until combined
Pour into prepared pan
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 55 minutes.
Remove from oven and immediately invert onto a plate or platter and cover with a cake dome. This step is VERY important. you want the cake to sweat under the dome and retain all it’s moisture.
Mmmmm…….20 minutes later, a warm piece of chocolate cake!

Some other variations of my 6 ingredient chocolate bundt cake are:
Butterscotch Bundt – Yellow cake mix, butterscotch pudding and butterscotch chips!
White Lightning or “I’m No Angel” white cake – White cake mix, white chocolate pudding, and white chocolate chips!
Banana Bundt Cake – Yellow cake mix, banana pudding, 1 cup mashed bananas. (minus 1/4 cup water and 1/4 cup oil)
Coco-Loco – White cake mix, coconut pudding and 1 cup flake coconut. I would definately make a glaze for this one with some toasted coconut sprinkled on top!
“Lovin My Lemons” Lemon bundt cake – Lemon cake mix, lemon pudding and if you are feeling wild, throw in some poppyseed! This cake will also benefit from a glaze made with powdered sugar, a little milk and some fresh lemon juice. Top it off with some lemon zest, and pucker up buttercup!
